I am a proud resident of Valley Ridge where I live with my supportive wife of 24 years Debbie. We have two children who are natural overachievers; Samantha who is a recent graduate of sociology from MRU and Andrew who is currently in his second year of economic studies at the U of C.
I have an extensive background in finance totaling over 30 years of experience in the industry. I have held numerous roles such as, being a branch manager of a Credit Union, running my own business, and being elected director of Mortgage Professionals Canada two terms in a row. Through out the years in these positions I was involved in important discussions with multiple levels of government about everything from compliance regulations to regulatory issues. Over my many years of banking I have learned the importance of proper budgeting and forecasting, not to mention how to balance growth and development with effective resources and cost.
Coaching hockey and ringette for decades on both my children’s teams has shown me how incredible and important participating and immersing in our community is. I find joy in bonding with fellow residents and helping our youth grow into the strong independent leaders of tomorrow. Teaching that even though we may not win every game, the hard work we put into our team is a reward in the end. When I have spare time you can find me volunteering at the Calgary Food Bank.
I continue to play organized hockey and find much enjoyment in taking advantage of The Lynx and the Valley Ridge Golf Course that is a luxury to have in our community. Further, a favourite activity of mine is to go on a mini adventure down to Bowness Park and the Bow River on a hot summers day.
I wanted to thank the recent outpour of support through emails and phone calls. Let's win this election!
